Summary: | Scott Goldberg, Senior Manager of Media Relations at Walgreens, said that the chain also set up pharmacy services in the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, one of the large emergency shelters that were opened during and after the storm. The pharmacy services were able to "to assist with prescription needs and donated food items, first aid, and medical equipment including blood pressure cuffs, glucometer strips, and transport wheelchairs to the convention center." In addition to snake bites, health officials were concerned with increases in bacterial and viral infections in the weeks and months after the flooding, including mosquito-born Zika and West Nile viruses. |
