Summary:For many years, ribs in plastic parts have been used to improve structural integrity and rigidity in structural components. Design engineers are continuously evaluating different rib structures to maximize the functionality of their applications. The added complexity caused by the combinations of new process technology, new design features and replacement of existing materials creates the need for comparative data to facilitate the design process. A study is described in which different combinations of process, rib design and material were examined.
