Summary: | Only one fly mars an otherwise perfect ointment. Despite the newspaper coverage, LeeAnne Muldoon, publicist for Shanghai Noon production staff, will not confirm that Peace River is scheduled for a shoot. What is known is that much of the film will be shot in and around Calgary, making use of the set created for the television film Lonesome Dove. Murray Ord, president of the Alberta Film Commission, says he worked hard to get the [Jackie Chan] film for Calgary. He notes that worldwide, some 230 commissions compete to attract films to their locales. "The exciting thing about a project like this is the profile somebody like Chan brings to a project," Mr. Ord says. Peace River's enthusiasm over Shanghai Noon does not surprise Ms. Muldoon. "People love Jackie Chan," she says. "He's a whole lot of fun. I can't believe the number of fans he has." |
