[...]investing in healthy development and promoting healthy behaviors among children can have an important impact on reducing adult morbidity and disease burden, such as obesity. Fortunately, California has a long tradition of considering and valuing the unique healthcare needs of children. Since the early 20th century, the California Children's Services program has set standards for coordinated care and pediatric expertise in the care of children with complex health conditions.
