Summary: | Founded by Simon Inger and Peter Trevellick in 1995, CatchWord currently processes and hosts around 380 journals for 32 academic publishers as well as a range of sheet music, via ten servers on four continents. The company has managed to grow solidly while keeping its costs low and, according to Inger, this is not about to change. The business curves three main areas: processing and hosting journals for commercial and society publishers and learned societies online, putting paper-based abstracting journals online in a database structure with a search facility, and publishing sheet music on the Web for the world's largest sheet music providers. The abstracts work is an important diversification for CatchWord and will represent a major area of growth. The company sees its journals and abstracts businesses as being highly complementary and adding up to a valuable two-fold service for users. |
