Summary: | In an interview, Allan G. Hancock, president-elect of the National Association of Life Underwriters (NALU), discussed health care reform, the future of the agency system, and the importance of ethics and education. Now a general agent with the Principal Financial Group, Hancock says he built his clientele by starting and growing with them, always being available, and always servicing. Three areas Hancock anticipates to be his main thrusts as the new NALU president are legislative restrictions, continuing education, and reputation. Entwining these 3 concerns is an effort to build a good working relationship between the field manager and the agent. Another focus will be ensuring that there is a high degree of appreciation for the agent and for his manager. Annuities, estate planning, business continuation, and disability income and long term care are the markets Hancock sees as growth areas in the next 10 years. |
