Summary: | A sustainable competitive edge comes from getting extraordinary results from ordinary people. During the author's years as CEO of Porsche, he was fortunate to have several superstars; however, the key to success was their supporting cast of people whose passion and enthusiasm resulted in extraordinary performance. The author's experience has taught him a great deal about superior implementation. The lessons he learned are: 1. Extraordinary performance with ordinary people requires the enthusiasm and passion that can only result from participation. 2. All the time lost and the concessions made to finalize a plan pay off with winning performance on race day. 4. Inspiring enthusiasm and passion involves not telling people what to do. 5. Cars do not win races -- people do. 6. You can change the rules, but you cannot change the results. |
