Description
Summary:A lesson - good for 2 CE credits - describing the important therapeutic role botanical remedies have played throughout history is presented. In the US, well over half of all modern pharmaceuticals are derived from natural sources, are synthetic analogs of natural products, or were developed on the basis of structural leads gained from natural products. In many parts of the world, plant-based remedies are a major part of pharmaceutical care, whether administered by a pharmacist, a physician, a tribal healer, or a relative. The 1970s and 1980s saw a resurgence of popular interest in herbal remedies in the US.
