Summary:A lesson covering counseling tips for the top over the counter drugs is presented as part of an ongoing continuing education program of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy and Drug Topics Magazine. Upon completion of this lesson, the pharmacists should be able to: conduct a patient interview; consider appropriate action for a variety of presentations; advise patients on the appropriate use of OTC drugs; list indications for ingredients of OTC analgesics, cold and allergy products, acid-peptic products, laxatives, and antidiarrheals; and list precautions and contradictions for the use of OTC analgesics, cold and allergy products, acid-peptic products, laxatives, and antidiarrheals.
