Description
Summary:On a damp, gray afternoon in Dec 2001, HOK architect Christopher Lee climbed onto the roof of the North Bank at Highbury. Lee had a perfect view of the sparkling green soccer pitch below, but his attention was focused to the south, toward an unsightly cluster of buildings about a quarter-mile away. Right where the big waste treatment plant is standing is the spot where Arsenal Football Club (FC) will build its new stadium. Another private development built on land just north of Emirates and sold off previously by Arsenal FC already has sold out. Arsenal FC, which now has its own holding company to handle real estate matters, went from total disinterest in the property market to becoming one of the largest residential developers in Britain.
