Summary: | The First National Bank of Livingston, led by president and CEO John Slocomb, has contributed to the success by providing both office space for Habitat for Humanity and zero percent construction financing. Community is important to both the bank and Slocomb who made a choice early in his career to live in a small community rather than a large city. Slocomb grew up in Galena Park near the Houston ship channel. In 1976, shortly after graduating from the University of Arkansas, Slocomb began his banking career with Allied Seabrook Bank in Houston. Slocomb was named president of First National Bank of Livingston and in 2000 became CEO. In addition to managing the challenges in his bank, Slocomb has also been a TBA volunteer for four years. In 2004, he was appointed a District 5 director. When first approached to volunteer he says he was hesitant but after encouragement from a friend he decided to get involved. |
