Description
Summary:American Printer magazine's ranking of the top 102 companies in the graphic arts industry in 1991 reflects the lackluster business climate that continues to restrain the graphic arts industry and the economy as a whole. One of the most notable trends uncovered by American Printer's research was the dramatic decline in merger and acquisition activity by the top companies. A number of companies reported substantial sales gains over their 1990 figures, with the greatest concentration being among the middle ranks. Standouts include: 1. Clondalkin Group, at $275 million, up from $180 million, 2. Jostens Inc., at $250 million, up from $180 million, 3. The Lehigh Press, at $143.458 million, up from $101.4 million, 4. Merrill Corp., at $125 million versus $101 million, and 5. Courier Corp., at $124.207 million, up from $105.334 million. In general, the increases did not result from acquisitions.
