Description
Summary:Multicast Internet protocol (IP) is a new data technology that enables new network-based applications. Multicasting is an efficient service to send data from one host computer to many receiving computers, but not to all the possible receivers in the coverage area of the broadcast. Multicasting allows a single transmission to convey the data to many receivers wherein the recipient group is identified and the transfer is managed to enable authorized sites capture the data successfully. Satellites and multicasting are a natural combination because a geostationary satellite can cover a vast geographic area in a single transmission.
