Description
Summary:ISDN could find its niche in a telecommunications supporting role. The telecommunications industry entered 1995 with most analysts proclaiming that this was finally the year of ISDN. As this year draws to a close, the new focus for ISDN - as an access method rather than as a service unto itself - is beginning to change the ISDN service paradigm and create a strong pull-through demand for its capabilities. The Internet's success is also ISDN's gain, as the technology begins to make a strong mark in its supporting role, providing small and home-based businesses as well as residential customers with the pipeline they need for efficient access to the graphically rich World Wide Web and the rest of the Internet. Across the board, local exchange carriers are showing a rapid growth in ISDN deployment, and if the growth is not happening, it is generally due to limited service availability. As carriers continue to expand their ISDN coverage and deployment and develop their marketing approaches, they are also beginning to fine-tune their pricing strategies.
