Summary: | It is imperative that internal audit departments seek out the best and brightest students and work with local colleges and universities to educate these students in the opportunities provided by a position on an internal audit staff. Such a strategy calls for companies to be aggressive and proactive in establishing internal audit as a career of choice. There are eight simple rules that may be included in such a strategy: 1. Connect with audit faculty. 2. Connect with student organizations. 3. Get your local UA chapter to connect with students. 4. Recruit students. 5. Offer internships. 6. Offer scholarships. 7. Connect with your human resources department. 8. Take responsibility for recruiting. The top students will not respond to advertisements when they have no indication as to the opportunities afforded them by taking a position in internal audit and have no prior knowledge of the company and internal audit staff. |
