Summary: | EXE is currently engaged in a major pilot to test the practical applications of RFID. The pilot is taking place in the working distribution centre of a Canadian retailer, an EXE customer. The venture involves a consortium of companies, and is part of a wider RFID project being conducted by the supply chain development association. This association is a non-profit making body which has been created to look into ways of integrating new technologies and processes. The pilot should be completed within the next two months. The core question that the company is posing concerns whether RFID can take the place of a human action. This may have additional, perhaps previously unconsidered implications in Europe, given our tight labour laws. |
