Description
Summary:The Colombian patent office’s fast decisions can accelerate examinations in other countries, but also complicate prior art Colombia’s patent office takes an average of 22-30 months to reach final decisions, which is fast in comparison with the region and also the world. PPHs were once only available to a patent whose application had already been granted in the country it was first filed, which limited the benefit to filers from countries with swift examination processes. The number of public officers that can be examiners at the patent office is fixed at 30 – too few to handle all the incoming national and foreign patent applications.
