Summary:In the rush to push the boundaries of genetic science, many moral and ethical questions are raised. However, the debate about what lives are worth living appears to have been left to less accountable clinicians and scientists. The desire for healthy, normal progeny and being able to control this through genetic treatment may appear altruistic but it also implies there is less value in those lives that do not match up to this normal myth. It is a dangerous precedent which society must address at the onset.
