description "We take this opportunity to recognize your creativity, talent, ingenuity and hard work." With these words, OSSTF president Earl Manners congratulated the eight provincial finalists of the 2002 Marion Drysdale Awards. Manners' remarks were part of the ceremony honouring the student winners on March 11 at OSSTF's Annual Meeting of the Provincial Assembly (AMPA). Adam Trudel, from Kirkland Lake Collegiate, District 1 Ontario North East, was sponsored by his teacher, Richard Laxton. Adam won the intermediate 9-10 applied/essential prose/poetry division for his poem "Is There Any Humanity Left?" in which he described how all humanity was affected by the inhumanity that occurred September 11, 2001. The eight provincial finalists for the 2002 Marion Drysdale Awards were also regional finalists. In addition to the fortunate eight who were honoured at AMPA, many students were also selected as regional finalists. For a list of the regional winners, visit the AMPA 2002 page on the OSSTF web site: www.osstf.on.ca.
