Summary: | Acoustic pyrometry offers significant advantages over conventional high-temperature flue gas measurement methods and can be considered for use as both an operating diagnostic and R&D tool. Since it is nonintrusive, acoustic pyrometry offers the potential for continuous, real-time temperature monitoring. Such systems can also be applied to low-temperature regions downstream of utility boilers to help identify and correct burner problems, slagging problems, and furnace overheating. Results of field testing of this method are reported, highlighting technique accuracy, costs, and availability. |
