Summary: | To IBM, pervasive computing means hundreds or even millions of small computers working behind the scenes to help access and use information. Twenty years ago, millions of computers connected to a worldwide network would have passed as a futuristic vision of pervasive computing. Today, that scenario is not a vision but everyday life. Pervasive computing is computing that is more pervasive than it is at this moment. IBM built the back end of its pervasive computing lab using IBM servers and its Websphere Everyplace Suite. For the lab's house, they used commercially available technology. |
