Summary: | James Deal, president of consulting firm Chandler Associates (Amelia Island, Florida), says that the challenge in the technology exchange aspect of the specialty chemical business is to find out what is not offered. Chandler specializes in transfer of commercial proven technology. Its clients are specialty chemical companies with sales of $10 million to $100 million a year that must compete against firms with world-class technology. In addition to its headquarters in Florida, Chandler has offices in Barcelona, Spain, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Yokohama, Japan. The company was formed in 1988. Deal spent the first year identifying medium-size companies that would be target clients for technology exchanges. The result is a database of more than 4,000 firms in 40 countries, indexed by application and structured to help solve clients' problems. |
