Summary:Sands examines choice-based teaching in the U.S. with regard to whether it meets educational standards. She states that the standards align perfectly with choice-based teaching particularly Teaching for Artistic Behavior and the National Core Art Standards. The standards were reportedly created as a method to allow arts educators to develop a unified quality arts education program. The standards are constructed of four high-level components and are considered essential for any arts-based program. Also discussed are the four core anchor standards which include creating, presenting, responding, and connecting.
