Description
Summary:Virgin Atlantic Airways is leaving little to chance. Andy Blackwell has just been appointed head of aviation security and is responsible for passengers, staff and aircraft, as well as Virgin's comings and goings at 19 airports worldwide. Just a few months into his appointment, Blackwell is making sure that security expenditure at Virgin matches the level of threat imposed by a particular set of perceived or real adverse circumstances or events. The regulators have required airlines to install reinforced flight-deck doors and linked camera equipment. There are also heightened security measures at airports in terms of searching and screening passengers, their baggage and cargo.
