Description
Summary:There has been plenty of activity in the cargo conversion market over the past couple of years and a little drama, too. But it would be a mistake to muddle up the cargo conversion routes pursued for Boeing aircraft and those associated with Airbus aircraft, as the two conversion scenes are so different at the moment at least. There is an oversupply of older candidate aircraft, willing and able conversion house capacity battling against a backdrop of an almost non-existence of cargo operators able to make the capital investment into dedicated freighter or converted freighter purchase. While the Airbus conversion scene is heavily controlled by the joint efforts of Airbus and Eads EFW, Boeing presents a very different picture with far less market control from the manufacturer and plenty of action from third-party engineering companies and conversion companies.
