Summary: | Being proactive about physician satisfaction will benefit patient satisfaction as well, according to a study published in the January Medical Care, a journal of the American Public Health Association. Using data from telephone surveys of roughly 179,000 patients and 37,000 physicians, researchers analyzed responses within geographic areas and found that physician career satisfaction was more strongly correlated with patients' overall healthcare satisfaction than any other aspect of the healthcare system. A recent survey conducted by Cejka Search and the American Medical Group Association provides some clues about what makes physicians unhappy. For the third year running, the 2006 Physician Retention Survey found poor cultural fit to be the top reason why physicians leave voluntarily. |
