Summary: | Microsoft Corp. is enhancing its 32-bit operating system push to include notebooks, charging vendors extra to offer 16-bit Windows for Workgroups. The company is pushing for Windows 95 as the operating system of choice for notebook manufacturers. A problem with this, according to notebook makers, is that 50% of their customers - many of which are resellers - are still requesting and choosing Windows for Workgroups when offered that option along with Windows 95. Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. plans to offer the dual-install option of Windows 95 and Windows for Workgroups until about mid-1997. |
