Description
Summary:Comdex/Fall 1995 will generate excitement among corporate customers with big changes in both software and hardware. Microsoft's Windows 95 has sparked renewed interest in software, Intel's Pentium Pro microprocessor has spurred hardware development and multimedia has become available for real use. At Comdex, vendors will demonstrate servers and workstations for the Pentium Pro, with Compaq positioning its Pentium Pro desktops as super clients. Symmetric multiprocessing systems using the Pentium Pro will be available in 1st qtr 1995. Software developers and customers will be especially focused on the desktop business suite market. Microsoft owns 90% of the market already, and Novell is selling off its applications business, leaving IBM/Lotus to battle for a share of the $3 billion market. Multimedia equipment that complies with the MPEG standard for video compression and lower prices for videoconferencing will interest corporate buyers.
