Summary: | Headquarters security is too often viewed from only a physical security perspective. While physical security is important, operational security can be more important and can usually be applied with a certain amount of conceptual uniformity. A key operational component of any headquarters security plan is establishing an effective command center. Command centers can vary in the number of personnel and the duties assigned to employees, but all effective command center operations have several aspects in common. A successful command center is the result of careful planning, clearly defined structure and job descriptions, and comprehensive training. All aspects of the command center plan need not, and probably should not, be presented to every employee. Employees should be told what to expect from the command center and how to communicate with command center personnel. |
