Summary:In order to manage all design and manufacturing information, ELDEC Corp., a manufacturer of custom electronic systems and subsystems for the aerospace market, is implementing an integrated manufacturing support system. ELDEC is using several commercial software applications in its manufacturing support systems project. These include: 1. Sherpa Product Information Management Systems, 2. CIMLINC LINKAGE, a toolkit for multi-media work instructions, 3. Automate Technology Associates RQM (Real-time Quality Management), an application for performing real-time data collection and analysis for statistical process control (SPC), and 4. SYBASE, a provider of client-server relational database management systems. All support UNIX X-Window implementation. The elements of the system include: 1. work order initiation, 2. tracking, 3. work instructions, 4. SPC, 5. part non-conformance reporting, and 6. an as-built archive.
