Description
Summary:The whole industry uses Dell's famous supply chain as an example of the excellence other mere mortals strive for. Supply Chain Europe jumped at the chance to see the PC provider's manufacturing facility in Limerick, Ireland first hand. Some of the legend is not true, Dell doesn't take just two minutes to assemble a PC and two minutes to load the software, but the facility is definitely a hive of efficiency. Plus, a lot more testing takes place than anyone bothers to mention in the fairytale version. What is true is that Dell's factory has no warehouses. Also, Dell does not build a single computer until it has been ordered and credit cleared - it takes no chances.
