Summary: | The weekend's Turkey-Pacific "foreign trade bridge", organized by the Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey (TUSKON), sought to increase trade volumes between Turkey and the Asia Pacific through bilateral business relations, new commercial opportunities and mutual investment potentials. "High trade officials from other Asia-Pacific countries came here. We would have been happier to see our government leaders come also and meet with their counterparts," said Bahnarim A. Guinomla, Philippine ambassador to Turkey. Turkey has invited the Philippine government to a joint economic commission to be held in Istanbul next month in a bid to improve cooperation in trade, public works and settlement, energy, environment and forestry, health, industry, transportation, postal services, as well as in contracting and consulting services. The Philippine panel will be headed by the Trade secretary, while the Turkish panel will be represented by the chief of Turkey's Office of European Affairs. |
