Summary: | Picturing a vacation in Boracay involves a lounge chair, a cool mojito, a stretch of powdery sand and cerulean water glinting in the sunlight. Most people edit out the airport, boat transfers, and room - because these aren't usually as picture-perfect, unless you're lucky enough to be a guest at Discovery Shores. "Our guests are not the type to be nickel-and-dime. These are mostly affluent Filipinos who know quality and expect the service," said Annabella Wisniewski, president of HSAI-Raintree. "They go to Hong Kong, Phuket, Bali, but they think it's better to go to Boracay. It's nearer, and you don't have to go through the hassle of immigration." "Boracay will always be a destination. To the Filipino mind-set, it's a fun, 'gimmick' island, and with other luxury hotels coming in, we'll have friendly competition. You always have to be excited in this business," said Mr. [Jose C. Parreno]. |
