Summary: | Unable to muster enough signatures, opposition lawmakers are now counting on their allies outside the House of Representatives to help keep alive their bid to impeach President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo over allegations she cheated her way to victory in the 2004 elections. Mrs. Aquino said anti-Arroyo demonstrators would converge today at St. Peter's Parish in Commonwealth Avenue and march to the Sandiganbayan building, some 50 meters from the Batasang Pambansa, where lawmakers were to vote on finalizing the justice committee decision to throw out impeachment complaints. The House plenary vote was expected to finally kill off the impeachment moves against Mrs. Arroyo "even if we have to stay until the early hours of [Tuesday] morning," said Davao City Rep. Prospero C. Nograles, an Arroyo ally. |
