Summary: | AFP Public Affairs Service chief colonel Jaime L. Canatoy said NPA members may assassinate or abduct government, police and military officials in Bataan, Mindoro and Rizal, provinces known to be NPA strongholds. "We would like the public to know that as the NPA is celebrating its anniversary with a bang (today), many of its members are surrendering to the military... They said they are tired of the NPA movement and its lies," Mr. Canatoy told a press conference in Camp Aguinaldo. He noted most NPA rebels operate in the periphery of the Sierra Madre mountain range in Eastern Luzon and near the boundaries of Quezon and Laguna. |
