Description
Summary:ORCA is an inspection-class ROV developed by an undergraduate team at the Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering in Chennai, India. The vehicle is a 500-by-350-by-210-mm, six-thruster ROV weighing 10 kg. It is equipped with temperature and pressure sensors, an IMU, and a camera to enable underwater inspection and survey up to 300-m depth. An open-frame design using high-density polyethylene allows the easy flow of water around the ROV. The vehicle was designed to ensure that the center of buoyancy is always above the center of gravity. This actively stabilizes the vehicle when an external force is applied on it. An acrylic electronic enclosure at the center of the ROV has two horizontal plates on either side. Each horizontal plate measures 450 by 105 by 20 mm and has 16 M3 drills to house the horizontal thrusters; eight holes up front and eight at the rear.
