Since its foray into this industry, Sony has produced many notable movie franchises, including "Spider-Man" and "Men in Black. [...]it was the first time that a major Japanese electronics firm was led by a non-Japanese individual.22 Some of Stringer's more ambitious objectives included: reinvigorating the company's struggling media businesses, selling off peripheral business, and returning the company's focus to innovation by hiring newly minted engineers.23 To achieve these objectives Stringer aggressively reorganized the company, resulting in the loss of 10,000 jobs and the closing of 11 production sites. |
