Summary: | The rationalist develops AI with the sole goal of saving money and reducing labor costs by jettisoning people. Humans are not economically rational, and the first question that will come up when automated systems are deployed for economic reasons will be, "What if a machine replaces me next?" The inevitable reaction will be fear, followed soon by anger. Ethical design for automated systems also happens to produce the best results in the long run because they're the most suited for getting the most out of the interaction between humans and machines. |
