Description
Summary:The work of Nathan Tipping-Stevenson, Falmouth University School of Architecture, Design and Interiors as an entry for the AJ Students Prize is presented. Entitled 'Leow Keskorra ha Dyski' meaning in Cornish a place to assemble and learn, the project describes how monumentalizing objects can transform the way we perceive them - particularly those with no artistic intent - while recognizing their history. An exhibition hall is proposed with corroding apparatus suspended like vast sculptures, while hanging pathways offer unexpected views. Learning facilities and studios respond to the rise in prominence of the creative industries in Cornwall. A foundry gives visitors the opportunity to leave the experience with something physical, while raising awareness of the area's material legacy of tin, copper and bronze.
