Description
Summary:As Covid-19 wanes and travel restrictions across Latin America fade, the region's carriers are mapping out their next moves amid a push to return to their pre-pandemic growth trajectory. IATA's Latin America chief Peter Cerda says the great thing about what is happening in this part of the world is that the recovery is fully underway. The region is open for business. After a two-year pause, Latin American airlines have once again begun forging ahead with new collaborations and new routes, opening more interregional connectivity. Airline executives see a giant continent with staggeringly inefficient ground-based transportation networks, especially between secondary cities. In Brazil, for example, Azul is now flying to over 150 domestic destinations, 30 more than it connected before the pandemic. In other parts of the region, low-cost carriers have taken the opportunity to establish themselves in areas that have historically lacked robust air connectivity.
