Summary:With the nannies intensifying their attacks on the restaurant industry over childhood obesity, alcohol, nutrition, labor practices and the environment, it's easy to overlook another area where activists are gleefully mustering their forces -- development. In the author's adopted home state of Florida, a constitutional amendment will be put to the voters this fall that essentially would give the public a veto vote on many forms of new development. The proposed change to Florida's constitution is really a backdoor way for anti-growth zealots to block legitimate businesses from opening in their towns.
