Description
Summary:The huge volumes of freight handled by container terminals present a daily headache for planners and managers across the world. Tracking and control systems provide ever-increasing volumes of information about the position and status of each container, and consignment databases can be updated rapidly to account for changing customer requirements and preferences. However, lift little support exists for the planner who has to use these data to plan and manage the operation. This is where FLAGSHIP-RTS comes in. The system brings together these extremely challenging container logistics planning problems. FLAGSHIP-RTS integrates resource scheduling, container reuse, movement scheduling and inventory optimization. FLAGSHIP-RTS automatically plans and schedules the operation, optimizing the movement of containers and the allocation to resources. Effectively, the system navigates through the millions upon millions of possible solutions to find effective, efficient schedules. The software is able to choose the best solution from a huge number of possibilities, taking seconds to come up with an answer.
