Summary:Growth in demand for nickel will remain strong over the forecast period, supported by the manufacture of stainless steel for use in infrastructure development and consumer durables, particularly in developing economies. However, growth in demand over the next 18 months is expected to be outpaced by growth in world supply. Higher mine supply is expected from Canada, Brazil and the Asia-Pacific region, while increased refined output is expected from Canada and China. This is forecast to result in downward pressure on prices from mid-2011.
