Summary:The report was given: about two years ago the discussion started between the executive director of ALA and Pat Schuman of Neal-Schuman publishers (you may remember that Pat Schuman served some years ago as president of ALA and also as treasurer) regarding the purchase of the publisher by ALA. With the advice of expert counsel it was finally decided to purchase the publisher for $7 million, to be obtained by a bank loan and paid back in five to seven years from profits from the publisher.
