Summary: | There already exists sufficient evidence of the efficacy of psychotherapeutic interventions, in particular cognitive behavioral therapy, for symptom reduction and relapse prevention. Evidence-based treatment guidelines recommend this approach for routine care. An increasing number of randomized clinical trials and research on active elements of treatment characterize this field. This paper presents research and clinical implications. Treatment strategies for reducing positive and negative symptoms, which represent an innovative field of research, are presented and discussed in terms of efficacy, treatment principles, and possible future developments. |
