Summary:Due to further technical developments in recent years, magnet resonance imaging (MRI) is now recognized as one of the primary diagnostic imaging modalities in the field of Internal Medicine. This review describes relevant indications for MRI in the different subspecialties of Internal Medicine and compares the diagnostic yield of MRI to other established modalities such as computed tomography and ultrasound.
