Summary:The aim of this study was to describe the nursing professionals' opinion on the nursing process, in order to base the actions of the implementation of the process in our institution. This is a qualitative study, carried out during an action research with the nursing staff of a pediatric teaching hospital. The nursing process is designed as a tool to organize care and prescribe nursing care. Work routines show the technical activities. Expectations with the implementation of nursing process involve improving the quality of care. The study reinforces the importance of including members of the nursing staff in the implementation stage of the nursing process and shows the challenge of facing the tecnicists routines.
