Summary:To evaluate the efficacy of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as a psychological intervention for elderly patients with extensive burns, focusing on its impact on emotional well‐being, self‐efficacy and quality of life. A prospective, randomized study involving 200 elderly burn patients was conducted from November 2021 to January 2023. The patients were randomly assigned to receive either standard care (control group) or burn care based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT‐B) (study group), with 100 patients in each group. Outcome measures included the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain assessment, 36‐item Short Form Survey (SF‐36) for quality of life, General Self‐Efficacy Scale (GSES) and Rosenberg Self‐Esteem Scale (RSES).
