Description
Summary:Overall rating: Good Strengths: Very interesting Weaknesses: Uneven writing Audience: Anyone interested in reproductive rights This is the story of a man who has probably been more hated and more loved than any other man in Canada. It is also the story of the movement that fought for the right of Canadian women to have an abortion. I thought I knew both of these stories well, but in reading this book I discovered that I had much to learn, both about the man and the movement. Henry Morgentaler was born in 1923 in Lodz, Poland, and grew up amid increasing anti-Semitism. His family was forced into the Jewish ghetto in 1939 and then taken to the Auschwitz and Dachau death camps. By the end of the war, only Henry and his brother had survived.
