Summary: | The effect of various antilymphocyte sera (ALS) on the migration activity of cells from spleen fragments was studied. It was demonstrated that the ALS inhibited spleen cell migration in very high dilutions.
This inhibitory effect could only be demonstrated on the homologous system, i.e. only on spleen fragments of the animal species against which the ALS was prepared.
Sera from various animal species used as controls did not influence the migration of the rabbit and guinea-pig spleen cells.
Other antisera were also tested for their ability to influence the behaviour of spleen cells. The antipolymorph serum had a mild inhibitory effect as did the antiglobulin serum. The antimacrophage serum was potent but its effect was not so pronounced as that of the ALS. |
